Tera

Sucks, really sucks (e-mail from Bambi of Mac360) -

To Mac360 readers:

We lost a very good friend today-- Tera Jean Patricks.

This afternoon, I received a phone call from her parents. Tera was staying
at their home near Los Angeles. She passed away early this morning following
a long bout with cancer.

Tera was 46.

Gibson blogs

More idiotic postings on AOL- here's one and my response:

I think people should learn to forgive and forget. Hasn't everyone said things they have not meant. I know there are not perfect people in the world. Mel Gibson has apolgized. Why don't people accept this and leave him alone?

Brainiac- of course Gibson apologized. What was he gonna say- "I had a few drinks but also meant what I said?" Do you not get that there was immediate damage control attempted by him and his "people" after the incident? Does the concept of saying "I'm sorry" and not meaning it, just to save your butt- escape you?! You never in your life said "I'm sorry"- just because you got caught? Also- it was Gibson and his people who asked the Jews for help- now his agent is saying it is "inappropriate" for the rabbi to discuss this in public? Oh, I get it- it was appropriate for Gibson to have his spin- now they want it to die down, so any talk is inappropriate while he works so very hard on his recovery- at home!

Frank Frazetta

Before he painted, Frazetta did some comics- cartoons, even Playboy- type stuff. (Yep- there's "Frazetta porn" out there!)

There've been many good and great sci-fi artists over the years, but Frazetta really stands out. And I notice more and more lately that you can't find a single Frazetta cover in the SF section of any bookstore! I'm glad I still have a few, but I might have to search e-Bay to replace those I lost over the years. One of my favorites of the Tarzan books, other than the first and "The Return of Tarzan," was "Tarzan and the Lion Man," great Frazetta cover- you can't find the book at all now! I guess I just assumed they'd always be there! Frazetta covers, Edgar Rice Burroughs on Ace Books (they had Frazetta- not Ballantine Books).

Yeah, looking at a Frazetta cover, you knew this book was no Johnny Weissmuller movie! (Though I liked Johnny Weissmuller Tarzan movies- the books were much better, though.)

Stones posting reply

On Yahoo, a tired piece knocking the Stones and implying Jagger's larynghitis means they 're old farts. The usual gang od idiots piped in saying they're washed up, etc. My response:

I saw the Stones live recently, and though you can see their ages in their faces, they did not move, sound, or play like old men. In fact, they were incredible. If only the album were as good. No, they don't write like they used to- but they still rock. The author of this article does not have the qualifications to be a writer unless it's for some high school's newletter, and the snots who critique this group mostly on the basis of their age apparently have nothing better to do- there is no credibility, insight, or substance going on here. Hope y'all die before you get old- it's not gonna be a pretty sight.

Death

I added the following entry to "Tera Talks" website. Apparently, she is running out of time, and believes she will soon "cease to exist," nothing more:

I may never have the satisfaction of "knowing," because for me- seeing is Believing. Blind Faith was a musical group. Then again, from what I can see- the world is flat. And lately, it looks like hell. But it's not flat. I know nothing. We see how much the world is a better place because of those who just Know 72 virgins are waiting for them.. No, I don't think we're Supposed to know. I'd like to think we're here for a reason (to Be Here Now). Deep down, though- I sometimes feel something (Real? Or programming?) I can't quite grasp- like the concept of infinity. Which exists. Or God.

Small Stuff

A quickie before I go to bed. trying to calm down- "I trust it'll all work out" said McGuinn...

Worse case scenario- at work, they get rid of Macs, get a jerk to step on my toes instead of help-

I just go thru the motions, take the money and run- to another job, as soon as possible.

A change may do me good...

Regarding condo, the hell with it at some point- I sell, and we all live happily ever after.

There are worse things to worry about- be cool, Me- just Be Cool..

Rose

it was 14 years ago today I last saw my father. Back then, I was getting my hair cut at Hair2000
in Latham, by Rose- even when I was living in Jersey I'd come up here to get my hair cut.

Last few times she seemed distracted, didn't do such a great job, so my last two haircuts were in
Delmar. Wasn't crazy about the last one, so today I called for an appointment with Rose-
was told she wasn't in but would be working till the 31st, when she retires.

Why that upset me as much as it did I'm not sure- maybe 'cause it's Dec. 22.
She's too young to retire! So am I- but sometimes I wish I could....

Maybe I'm crazy, but I couldn't bear to schedule a haircut with Rose and then have to say
goodbye. Even though I'd like to wish her well, and make sure everything's OK-
last I saw her she told me her daughter was getting married...

But it feels like another death, so I went to a different barber in Delmar-
guy did a decent job. I didn't catch his name..
